Bob Varela and his staff worked very hard to restore my 1986 Porsche 928 that I bought from a seller in Green Bay Wi. The car had a lot issues that I was not disclosed on by seller: faulty tachometer, dried up seals, defective cooling fans, non-working horn, defective rotors and brakes, defective AC, and I could go on and on.
Bob worked very hard and with a lot of patience to make this car beautiful again. I would highly recommend Foreign Affairs for your German car and he also specializes in Porsches.

Ok here we go…I own a 2010 Audi TT convertible with extremely low mileage. For about six months I would get different warning lights, sometimes it was a ABS sometimes it was traction control and one time, no kidding all of the lights came on in the car while my girlfriend was driving it… She swore the car hated her and that it was possessed LOL! The other concern was the convertible top started needing manual assistance to go up and down which is normally the signs of a very expensive hydraulic pump. I must say this as clearly as possible… I do NOT trust auto mechanics. Very bad past personal experiences with hucksters and liars. I looked to YELP and once again my fellow champions of great service, you steered me in the right direction! This shop has a $100 off coupon off oil service which is pretty much a free oil change in my head so I am thinking, take the car in, let them do the oil change and tell them about my other concerns. If they even hint of falsehood I will run the other way. This was not my experience! Bobby was quick to help me, listened to all of my concerns and actually asked all the right questions. He asked if I could leave the car right then as he had his Audi specialist on hand. Very long story short, he completed the oil change, cleared all of the bad codes out of my car and using an aftermarket warranty company that I had purchased with the car, replaced my faulty hydraulic pump with a lightning fast super strong one. Bobby and his team at Foreign Affairs are amazing. He kept me in the loop the entire time, honored my $100 off coupon from YELP and kept my out-of-pocket so low I had to brag to everybody about it! Their shop is in an industrial area but it is something right out of NASCAR or an Indy 500 shop. You will see race cars, race engines, a bevy of the most high end cars and top-tier mechanics with an experienced and focused look on their face. This place is so far beyond the real deal it is mind blowing. Bobby has a genuine confidence and reassurance that truly puts you at ease as you can feel the years of expertise coming across in his questions, responses and explanations. I have found my mechanic! When I got my car back it looked like it came out of a detail shop and it runs better than when I bought it. Gone is the Herky Jerky feeling off the line, nothing but silky smooth shifting and effortless, seamless power. I can’t explain it, it is like a new car! I love my convertible all over again and I love the super experts at Foreign Affairs!

I would not even think of taking either of these two cars anywhere else but to foreign affairs. I trust them completely.
The 912 needed an oil pump a few years back and bobby did an amazing, quick and reasonable job.

I have been using Foreign Affairs for the past 14 years. It all started with a 2001 BMW M5. The guys at Foreign Affairs did a full Dinan conversion on the car. I have had numerous cars needing various things over the years. Whether it has been routine service or emergency help, they have always been there for me. I find the work as good as it comes, the expertise is also superb.
Several years ago the guys helped me do a track weekend at Sebring with my GT3 which was a lot of fun.
So whether you need exceptional care for a routine service or something up to and including full restoration or track preparation for your car ( mostly BMW, Porsche, Mini- even though they did some work on a Ferrari I had) I would highly recommend Foreign Affairs. Also, most importantly , their charges are reasonable considering the high level of expertise that is practiced.(An example of service is the following: A few months ago I needed a periodic service on my 991 Porsche C2S. This included an oil change and brake flush. The local Porsche dealer in Pompano quoted me a fee of $970, it cost for $430 at Foreign Affairs for the same service and they even reset the warning lights for the next service.They have all the computer equipment needed to do all the services properly on your car).
BTW- Foreign Affairs is a family run business. They all take enormous pride is getting things right for the customer.
Foreign Affairs is still the best place to bring a Porsche, BMW or Mini. They still know there s*%!. Fair prices for excellent care.
I recently brought my newly acquired Boxster 986 in for some after purchase service. It’s a 2003 with only 26K but nonetheless I wanted it checked out. I had the oil changed, new battery, and brakes bled, and wheels balanced. The oil filter was checked for metal (IMS), none was found and I was given a clean bill of health. I had noticed a little rust on the hidden tray that holds the battery – requested a new battery and mentioned the rust on tray. Bobby recommended cleaning up the tray; apply rust inhibitor and spray paint black. Result was excellent, looks like new!
I was very pleased with the service provided; there is a high level of professionalism and apparent pride and enthusiasm for the cars they service and care for.
I happened to meander into the shop area to get a view of the underside of my car. Bob had questioned me about who I was (Bobby is his son),
Once I explained that my car was on the lift and I just wanted to get a picture of the underside, he was very gracious in pointing out the engine, transmission and that there were no leaks. What looked like dirt build up and grease was actually the rust proofing and protective undercarriage coating applied in Germany at the factory.
Their pricing was very reasonable, or as I expected. Their passion leads to my confidence. You can be sure I’ll return for my next service!
I now understand how and why the ratings for Foreign Affairs are so high. I have a Mercedes GL450. They are extremely knowledgeable and professional. I had a great experience and they are now my place for mechanical and performance. A true pleasure. I highly recommend.
