Welcome to The Genki no. 76 RWB in the United States – the perfect example of a Porsche transformed into something quite amazing.
History of the RWB.
Back in the seventies, tuners like RUF and Andial were modifying Porsches, and it wasn’t so sacrilegious. But then the purist age emerged, and it became uncool to modify your Porsche unless you were adding more horsepower.
However, thanks to pioneers like Nakai San, Rod Emory, Rob Dickinson, and Peter Nam, modifying a Porsche has now become a cult following. RWB or Rauh-Welt Begriff means “Rough World” and is a Porsche tuner located in Japan. They have combined Japanese and Euro tuning elements, creating the distinct RWB style for Porsche chassis.
The locals in Chiba-Ken, a province just east of Tokyo, Japan, is the epicenter of Nakai San’s RWB Porsche modified cars and their car club called “Idlers.” The Genki or “Strong Turtle,” as this car is called, was named after Nakai San’s favorite restaurant in Japan.
Starting off as a small countryside body-shop in Chiba-Ken, Nakai San began building an empire across the globe of super wide modified Porsche 911’s, which are now a common sight on both the streets and racing circuits all over the world. RWB prides themselves on making only one version of their RWBs for each customer and will not make another one for the customer.
This vehicle started off as a 1997 993 Carrera, and it was build number 76 for the United States RWBs built for Nickolas Lam in New York. With over 1300 RWB creations made since the company was formed some 20 plus years ago, The Genki no. 76 RWB is a truly unique and special Porsche.
