The Essential Rolls-Royce Service Checklist For Ultimate Care
You can’t talk about luxury cars without mentioning Rolls-Royce. While Maybach and Bentley have taken great strides in closing the gap, Rolls-Royce remains the undisputed champion of the ultra-luxury car market. While some manufacturers try to push the boundary of technology to make their vehicles feel more luxurious, Rolls-Royce takes the more traditional approach.
How? Rolls-Royce uses high-quality materials and finishes combined with tried and true technology, like their buttery smooth V12, because nothing is more luxurious than reliability. To ensure your Rolls-Royce remains the pinnacle of luxury and reliability, we’ve put together the ultimate Rolls-Royce service checklist.

Rolls-Royce Service Schedule Suggestions
Whether you drive a Rolls-Royce (or more accurately, are chauffeured) or a Toyota, the first item on your checklist should be to follow the factory-recommended service schedule.
Rolls-Royce has invested a small fortune in research and development to fine-tune the service routine for each of their models to ensure that their reputation remains intact. While this may vary from model to model and your region, the recommended service schedule for a Florida-based Rolls-Royce is as follows.
6,000 Mile Service Interval
Every 6,000 miles, the recommended service includes changing oil and replacing the oil filter, cleaning and inspecting air filters, performing a several-point inspection on wear items such as belts, linkages, brakes, the battery and electrical system, and all hydraulic systems. Finally, all fluid levels are inspected and topped up as required.
12,000 Mile Service Interval
The 12,000 mile service includes all the service items from the 6,000 mile service, but also includes additional service items such as cleaning and re-tuning carburetors and fuel injectors, replacing spark plugs, cleaning the heater filter, lubricating grease nipples on suspension components, and inspecting shock dampers.
24,000 Mile Service Interval
A major service occurs every 24,000 miles, which includes everything from both the 6,000 and 12,000 mile services.
The additional service items are as follows:
- Drain and clean the fuel tank
- Service crankcase breather system
- Drain and replace gearbox fluids
- Lubricate the propeller shaft and joints
- Drain and replace rear axle or differential fluid
- Replace steering hydraulic fluids (if applicable)
While this is just a summary, we have gone into more detail about what a Full Rolls-Royce Maintenance schedule looks like.

Wheels and Tires Rolls-Royce Service
No amount of leather, wood, or steel can shield your immersion of luxury like a bad set of wheels. Vibrations, shuddering and poor braking performance are the polar opposite of the Rolls-Royce experience, which can slowly creep in if you aren’t cautious about your tire maintenance. Fortunately, modern Rolls-Royce models will help you with one aspect of tire maintenance, as their onboard tire pressure monitors will ensure your tire pressures are always within spec.
However, to avoid developing vibrations and to promote equal tire wear, tires should be rotated and balanced every 8,000 Miles. Additionally, an alignment is recommended every other rotation or 16,000 miles. Finally, tires should be replaced when either the tread has worn past 2/32 of an inch or every six years. After six years, tires would have begun to harden and crack, adding to ride harshness but also decreasing grip and braking efficiency.

Aesthetic Maintenance
While a large part of owning a Rolls-Royce is feeling good while you drive it, you also want to make sure you look as good as you feel. The following care items will make sure to take care of that.
Regular Washes and Details
If you didn’t already know, there’s a difference between a wash and a detail.
Your standard car wash is where the surface layer of dirt is removed using good old soap and water, and is often accompanied by an interior wipe down and vacuum. Regular washes are great to make sure your Rolls-Royce looks the part every day, and to prevent sand and debris from scratching the paint, or bird droppings, tree sap, and salt from etching and damaging the clearcoat.
A good detail goes into way more depth. It starts much the same with a wash, but includes specialty services like the application of fallout remover to break down iron and metals that have embedded themselves in the clearcoat. It also includes using clay bars to extract any other contaminants in your paint, and polishing body panels to remove light scratches and sun damage (and of course to make that chrome grill and accents really pop). On the interior, seats and floors are shampooed and extractor vacuumed, while an arsenal of brushes and steam cleaners eliminates any dirt.
Apply Protective Coatings
Last, but not least, protective coatings are applied to ensure your Rolls stays cleaner for longer.
We’ve all seen what the Florida sun can do to cars. Dull faded paint, yellow headlights, peeling clear coat, and cracked leather are too common, and certainly beneath a Rolls-Royce. Just as you use sunscreen when heading out in the heat, you should consider adding a protective coating to your Rolls-Royce. Ceramic coatings, paint protection films, and waxes all provide varying levels of protection against UV rays and embedded contaminants, and can be used in combination with each other for added protection.
While you’re at it, consider applying that same ceramic coating, wax, or a specialized leather cream to your interior to keep the leather soft and subtle while simultaneously protecting it from drying out and cracking.
